Saturday Supercade!

All manner of awesome artwork this Saturday Supercade! From the WWII inspired propaganda posters, I particularly enjoy the Dig-Dug one, to a Pac-Man chair and Super Mario Bros. table showing 4 stages of the classsic NES game!

Everyone have a great weekend and I'll see you on Monday.

New Donkey Kong Record!

The Donkey Kong world record has been broken yet again, the third time this year, and it's title is now held once more by Steve Wiebe! Billy Mitchell's previous record breaking score was done the same day as his induction to the International Video Game Hall of Fame on August 7th of this year, Billy score a whopping 1,062,800. Steve has pulled off 1,064, 500 as his record breaking score!

I know I am a little biased here but I'm thinking that Steve needs to be inducted next year, am I right?

All of us here at the Victory Pellet Vault give you both a mighty salute, keep up the awesome gaming! A big thanks to NintendoLife for the above photo and story.

Box Art Wednesday.

Just something a bit different this Box Art Wednesday. Thanks to Boardgame Geek for the pics above of the box art for very popular video games back in my youth...and still popular to this day of course.

Of all of the boxes shown above I have to say that the Pitfall one is my favorite, with maybe Berzerk coming in a close second.

Billy Mitchell Holds Donkey Kong Record Again!

Billy Mitchell on Aug. 7th cracked the top score on both Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr., the very day he was inducted into the International Video Game Hall of Fame. Scoring 1,062, 800 on Donkey Kong and 1,270,900 nabbed Mitchell the ultimate in bragging rights.

Mitchell held the top score over Steve Wiebe which was documented in the King of Kong but lost his place on the throne when Hanks Chien netted 1, 061, 700 in March. Billy apparently stopped playing the game as soon as he bested Chien's high score. Mitchell is quoted as saying about his actions, "Some say I'm being cocky. Some say I'm being lazy. I say, I'm being Billy Mitchell."

I'm not quite sure how I missed this news but a big thanks to Twin Galaxies for the info and photo above, as well as to Kotaku.

I'll try to post some more info from the celebration last week at Ottumwa, it certainly sounds like a very big deal for those of us that love video gaming and its history.

Saturday Supercade!

It's an 8-bit art show for this Saturday Supercade!

1.) You have to be careful when exploring this crazy thing we call life because around every corner there might just be a lurking Pitfall tile created scorpion waiting for you.

2.) I guess when your water pipes begin to pour out 8-bit pixelated water your only choice is to call on the Mario Bros. plumber company.

3.) Wonderful Tron representation from the I am 8-bit art exhibit. End of Line.

4.) Why use spray paint when you can create an entire Donkey Kong out of post-it notes?

5.) A nicely crafted laptop tote bag featuring Pitfall Harry doing his thing.

Some more Saturday Supercade!

Obviously we are sticking with Donkey Kong at this point, but instead of a warm quilt perhaps a piece of birthday cake would suffice?

Saturday Supercade!

We ended with Donkey Kong as the subject for last weeks Saturday Supercade and the famouse escaped gorilla is not only going to start us off this weekend but he'll keep us warm as well thanks to the talented Carolina Patchworks!

Saturday Supercade Signing Off!

Well, that is another post packed Saturday Supercade come to an end. Looking at that rather grisly sticker up above, I just don't think Mario would do something like that. Sure he is put out because DK stole his girl but heck he just locks the big gorilla in a cage for Donkey Kong Jr. so I don't see him mounting Donkey Kong's head on the wall. Yuck!

Still Some Saturday Supercade!

Switching over to Donkey Kong now from Fleer for what looks like an almost all sticker Saturday. Thanks to TRsRockin.com for the above picture. I use to have practically a full set of these stickers back in my youth but I traded them for an album of Dragon's Lair stickers.
