Friday Flyers Interrupted...For It Must Be Friday!

You readers whom put your hard earned money into my coffers shouldn't have to miss a single post...so I'm making up missing the It Must Be Thursday post by bringing you a It Must Be Friday post instead.

Witness the excitement and awe of Batman and Donkey Kong as seen on Deviant Art by the talented Dean Kotz! Thanks to Kotaku for the heads up on the picture above.

Friday Flyers.

I'm a pretty big fan of Paperboy but unfortunately was never able to actually play it in the arcade so I can't help but just kind of look in awe at the bike controller for that cabinet.

I've also not had the chance to play Miki nor Revenger 84, and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the first one is the title that I should be sorry I missed. Looking at the second page of the flyer really makes me want to find an emulator for it.

Sorry about no post yesterday but I was traveling back in time for a special event that I shall post all about tomorrow for Saturday Supercade!

Box Art Wednesday.

A little challenge today. All three of these Commodore 64 titles above have something in common with their box art, can you figure out this rather untaxing quandary? The first reader to post the answer in the comments section will get...something...I'm sure I can open up one of the vault doors and secure something worthy of a prize to send to the reader who posts the correct answer.

Impossible You Say?

A different sort of post for today. Last evening once I was able to escape the confines of the Victory Vault I decided to visit my local Vintage Stock to see if I couldn't pick up a few titles to review for the Retroist site. I picked up a handful of Atari 2600 titles as well as a few choice selections from the NES section.
Imagine my surprise when I came upon this Mission Impossible cart from the video store I used to work at in my youth and not only that but it still had the stickers with my handwriting on it. What are the odds that after 20 years whomever had owned this game wouldn't have removed the stickers?

Numb Thumb Hall Of Fame.

Make sure to click the above pictures to make them readable!
Many of you loyal readers have seen my countless posts where I've talked about my longing for the famed and much coveted Activision patches that were offered back in the day for reaching a certain set score, taking a photo of it, and sending it in to await the arrival of said prestigious patch.

I was not aware however that another great game company of the time, Imagic, had their own patch award...not to mention the chance to win t-shirts and jackets. I wish I had because from the scanned magazine page provided by Atari Age above, from the Numb Thumb News back in 1983 I believe I would have been able to secure a Dragonfire patch!

Make sure to check out that last article where Bob Smith is interviewed, he also was the programmer on one of my fave Atari games, Riddle of the Sphinx. Which was way ahead of its time! I wish there was a vast archive for interviews with these programmers of the golden age of video games because I know I cannot be the only gamer who longs for more information on what it was like back in the game making business!

Still Saturday Supercade...Cybertron Edition!

It should probably comes as no surprise that I have had such a blast playing Transformers: War for Cyberton on the Xbox 360. Nor should it surprise anyone that I am a huge Transformers fan that would pay upwards of 100 bucks to have this custome made Omega Supreme sitting on my mantle.
Thanks to Kotaku for the above pics!

Some More Saturday Supercade!

In my youth I would have killed a Grue single-handedly to obtain one of these shirts and that goes true for today as well. You do not even have to place an order with FrobozzCo International anymore to purchase your own. Just head over to Cafepress.com to make your purchase...of course I'm not sure how many Zorkmids you would need to do so...better use a debit/credit card to be sure.
