"Well blow me down!"

As mentioned in an earlier post, Popeye, was one of those arcade games that was placed on the bottom level of Showbiz Pizza. For the longest time it was side by side with Donkey Kong Jr. in fact.

I have some fond memories of this 1982 game, I put a lot of time in breaking the bottles hurled at me by the Sea Hag, not to mention trying to get the heck out of the way of Brutus/Bluto as he came barreling up and down the stairs. Each level had you trying to collect a different item, the first level you needed 24 hearts to progress, the second level was 16 musical notes, and lastly the letters to spell 'help'.

Beside the Sea Hag, Brutus/Bluto, there were also appearances by Olive Oyl, Swee' Pea and Wimpy.

This should tell what my day is like.

Too busy for a real post at the moment, tonight I'll try to talk about this great game.

Happy Birthday, Dax!

There are many games I have had the pleasure to play alongside you, lad. Here are a few.

"I'm on my way!"

I was a happy camper during 1990, I had seen Batman mania sweep the world the year before and now it looked like Dick Tracy was going to do the same...but it didn't, not really. However it did release a slew of merchandise that rivaled that of the caped crusader and that was fine by me.

The NES game for Dick Tracy at the beginning of each level you would be at police headquarters and you would have to look at what clues you were given, after looking up the villain you needed from the mug shot book you had to hit the streets and head to their last known location. It was then that the game switched to a driving level and once you arrived at your destination, assuming you hadn't been picked off by snipers on the top of buildings, it became a side-scroller with you on foot, punching and occasionally shooting some plug-uglies.

I had a real blast with this game but to be honest the Sega Genesis version while not really having any of the sleuthing contained more excitement and fun...it was also a lot more difficult.

"Never feed them after midnight."

I always wanted this game...yet I never was able to obtain it. I like the Ka-Boom like quality of the first screen shot, keeping those Mogwai from hamburgers was probably a tough thing to do. The second screen must be after they've eaten, obviously, and you seem to be shooting something at the oncoming green little beasties.
