Saturday Supercade!

All manner of awesome artwork this Saturday Supercade! From the WWII inspired propaganda posters, I particularly enjoy the Dig-Dug one, to a Pac-Man chair and Super Mario Bros. table showing 4 stages of the classsic NES game!

Everyone have a great weekend and I'll see you on Monday.

Happy B-day to the NES!

Feel that something special in the air? Why that would be millions of excited gamers across the globe as they rise wearily from their beds to discover that the Nintendo Entertainment System has turned 25 years old!

Super Mario Bros., Excitebike, Kid Icarus, Duck Hunt, Metroid, and Legend of Zelda to name only a few of the early titles that I burned hundreds of hours playing in my youth. Good memories.

Of course how does one celebrate a day like this? Well, you can do what I'm going to do and play some M.U.L.E. but I personally think that should be done everyday. I guess I'll just have to browse this crazy series of tubes to find suitable photos worthy of the 25th birthday celebration of a classic gaming system.

A big thanks to Kotaku for the heads up and to Smithore.com which is just an incredibly awesome site about M.U.L.E. so make sure to head over there and give them a look!

Pardon me but I need more tea and I should see if the Vault has anymore of the Nintendo cereal in stock.

A Salute To Mario.

Well, that closes out the day here at the Victory Pellet Vault and I hope you all had a chance to play some Super Mario Bros. at least once today to celebrate the anniversary.

The above video was produced by Nintendo of Japan for the 25th Anniversary of our most favorite video game plumber...actually is there another video game plumber? Everyone have a great evening and I'll see you tomorrow!

Happy 25th To Mario!

A mighty thanks as always to Kotaku for the above pic and for reminding me that today is the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. release back on Sept. 13th, 1985! As far better writers have pointed out, we gamers all owe the mustachioed plumber a great deal of thanks and respect. So today I'll continue to post various photos and videos relating to Mario for this celebration...so break take your NES from the closet and grab a bottle of Jolt cola...it's going to be a long day!

Still Some Saturday Supercade!

Reaching the end of this weekend's Saturday Supercade posts but we still have one more to go. Which one is cooler, the guy dressed as Kevin from Captain N or the couple dressed as Piranha Plants from Super Mario Bros.?

Still Saturday Supercade!

Okay, maybe we do have something that beats that last cosplay post. The cuteness level alone elevates this to a higher level...though they do look a little frightened don't they? Perhaps they are just sneaking up on an unaware Goomba, ready to crack its skull with a well tossed pumpkin? Good job, kids, good job!

Saturday Supercade!

If you have a Saturday morning where you can find some excellent art of Lego Pac-Man/Super Mario Bros, homemade Tron suits, a Mega Man profile shot, Tron inspired V.I.N.C.E.N.T. from the Black Hole, and a real life Super Mario Bros. Level...you can call it a day and sit back and relax.

Poor little Toad. Surrounded on all sides by Bowser's Goombas. Good luck freeing him with this Japanese crane game.

Saturday Supercade!

It's an 8-bit art show for this Saturday Supercade!

1.) You have to be careful when exploring this crazy thing we call life because around every corner there might just be a lurking Pitfall tile created scorpion waiting for you.

2.) I guess when your water pipes begin to pour out 8-bit pixelated water your only choice is to call on the Mario Bros. plumber company.

3.) Wonderful Tron representation from the I am 8-bit art exhibit. End of Line.

4.) Why use spray paint when you can create an entire Donkey Kong out of post-it notes?

5.) A nicely crafted laptop tote bag featuring Pitfall Harry doing his thing.

Saturday Supercade!

Incredibly busy time here at the Victory Pellet Vault so I can only make one post for the Saturday Supercade. At some point in my life I will have to travel to Japan and just clear out most of their stock of Super Mario Bros. products. Look at all that stuff!

Click the pics to make mushroom sized and check out the sweet Lupin pins at the bottom of the second photo. I hope that everyone has great weekend and I'll see you folks on Monday!

Friday Flyers break...for Enter the Mushroom Kingdom

It seems as if Mario and Luigi are having to get serious in the Mushroom Kingdom as their foes have become far more frightening in this wonderful art piece by lastscionz. Thanks to Kotaku for the heads up...or is that 1-up?

It must be Thursday.

Even though the hordes of adoring fan letters and requests for various game reviews keep me up late until the wee hours of the morning and make me more jazzed than a sugar rush/espresso combo...sometimes I just can't pull myself out of my stasis chamber to make a post. That was the case for yesterday, dear readers. Such is the curse of old age.

However, my energy levels are at least showing half-full today so I share this photo of a Super Mario Bros. fan that has the message we gamers must all face someday no matter what we accomplish. I sure do love some Mario and Luigi but I couldn't go through life with that on my neck.

It's almost Easter so that means the store shelves are stocked full of those wonderful sugary Peeps. Allison has posted a photo here in which she has shaped the Peeps as various creatures from the Super Mario Bros. world. Except for Mario and Luigi whom look like Peeps Easter Bunnies.

Still, still some Saturday Supercade.

You know what a party needs? Party favors! So why not have them resemble Super Mario Bros. characters?

Still Saturday Supercade!

Now THIS is a birthday party!

What more can you say?
Except that one of these children is not quite as happy with their costume.
